Glenwood Springs: The History of a Rocky Mountain Resort
Published in Paperback by Western Reflections Inc (September, 1999)
Average review score:

A comprehensive, entertaining history of Glenwood Springs.Glenwood Springs - The History of a Rocky Mountain Resort is not the typical history book. All of the information is there - from the formation of the geology up to the present day, along with a wealth of vintage photographs. However, Nelson's easy writing style makes the history a treat to read.

Goin' Railroading: Two Generations of Colorado Stories
Published in Paperback by University Press of Colorado (December, 1998)
Average review score:

Introduction to Hands-On Steam RailroadingThis is a reprint of a Colorado and Southern engineman's life story. Although the book is very readable, you won't find much of the "romance of the rails" here - just hard work and men trying to get a job done in often dangerous circumstances.
It's a good introduction to steam-era railroading for those who are too young to remember, and it will revive memories for those who do.

The Good Neighbor Guidebook for Colorado: Necessary Information and Good Advice for Living in and Enjoying Today's Colorado
Published in Paperback by Johnson Books (November, 2000)
Average review score:

Excellent Book! This is an excellent book for anyone planning to move to, or already living in, Colorado. Though not a book that most people would sit down and read cover-to-cover, it provides a broad overview of issues that are important as a reference guide. It is divided into concise chapters and written in language that is technical but understandable. From legal issues such as land stewardship and basics of Colorado law to a tongue-in-cheek interview with "Colorado Red", the book provides us with useful information so that we can all be better neighbors.

Grand Canyon: True Stories of Life Below the Rim (Travelers' Tales Guides)
Published in Paperback by Travelers' Tales Inc (August, 1999)
Average review score:

Whet your appetite for the Grand Canyon¿If you are looking for a tasty sampling of writings about the Grand Canyon this may be your book. In its 253+ pages you get the flavor of writings by dozens of authors, and enough of each flavor for you to decide whether you've had enough with that one taste, or if you need to digest that author's entire work. The writings range from serious to the silly, from inspirational to scary, and from experiential to philosophical. There's probably something here for everyone - a vast variety of perspectives and experiences from canyon rim to beyond the river's edge. None of the selections are over 16 pages (and many far shorter) so even if you're less than delighted with any of them you're quickly on to the next. This is a surprisingly quick and delightful read, and you'll probably get to the end wishing for more.
This book is designed to give you enough interest in the Grand Canyon from an armchair perspective to induce you to actually go there. Accordingly there are 14 pages of information devoted to The Next Step - what you need to know to visit and safely enjoy the real Grand Canyon.
Read the book and then go!

Grave Doubt
Published in Hardcover by Carroll & Graf (June, 1995)
Average review score:

Great book! The ending maybe let me down a tiny bit, but the rest of this book was superb and even the ending was very good. His dialogue is full of smart one-liners and the narrator has a keen and wry perspective. The premise drew me in and there were twists and turns aplenty. I've read about a dozen mysteries recently and this is one of my two or three favorites.

Guide to Colorado Wineries
Published in Paperback by Fulcrum Pub (April, 2002)
Average review score:

Essential reading for Colorado wine lovers!!I think the Brad and Alta Smith did a wonderful job researching and "discovering" these wineries, most of which are extremely under-publicized. This book is a handy guide which gets you to every winery and tells you all you need to know about each one before you arrive! A MUST BUY!
